Principal’s Column
Dear Parents and Friends,
Principal Dr Wayne
Troyahn
Last week saw our school highly
involved in Anzac Day ceremonies. I thought that our
school ceremony, as conducted by our students, was a
very impressive event with all students presenting an
impressive display in Quota Park. The Anzac Day
ceremony was a very moving event in Nambour and our
School Captains did a very impressive job.
The Nambour march was an uplifting
time for all. The students who participated presented
themselves in immaculate order. Sean Maher organized
their marching very well and the whole event for our
school was a clear advertisement for all those things
we hold dear under the umbrella of “traditional
values”.
To my mind, Anzac Day is one of the
key events on our school’s annual calendar and it is
very important for it to be supported at this high
level each year.
The recent success of Rachel
Austin, from Year 9, in being named in the national
volleyball squad, is a major milestone for our
school. To have somebody in only the third year of a
program reach the standard of possible selection in
the national team, speaks volumes for the high
standard of work from teachers and students working
together. This shows that Nambour is now the key
centre for volleyball.
As we enter the cooler months it is
important for our uniform to be kept up to the high
standards that we want. All families agree to the
uniform at the time of enrolment into our school.
This does include the school jumper and it should be
the only style of jumper worn for the cool times this
term and next. If families have difficulty with the
purchase of the jumpers, please contact me so we can
organize possible assistance.
Another procedural thing is that
which occurs when a student is late to school. Please
ensure that, if your child is late to school that you
provide supporting notes etc, and the student checks
in through our Student Centre in A12. Our checking of
absentees etc is very accurate and I would ask that
you support us in our endeavours to ensure that all
students are at school and signed in appropriately on
each occasion.
If you would like to discuss any of
these points please contact me on 5450 4122 or
wtroy1@eq.edu.au as we all try
to work for the best education for our students.
