Recent
storm damage
Unfortunately our school facilities
did sustain some damage during the severe storms last
week. One class had to be relocated at the end of
last week due to water damage and a number of other
rooms, including the foyer and offices in the
Administration Building required attention as a
result of the very heavy rain. Our school grounds
also required regular clean ups due to fallen
branches and erosion problems.
A huge thank you staff and families
who assisted with the clean up and quickly enabled
school activities to continue with minimal
disruption.

Semester 2 Student Reports
Staff are currently finalising the
preparation of Semester 2 Student Reports. Student
Reports for students in Years 1-7 will be issued on
Tuesday 9 December. We are aware that a few of our
families may not be here at school in the final week
of term. Should you require your child’s report
before 9 December, please advise your child’s class
teacher so that arrangements can be made to try and
organise reports before departure. Students in the
Prep Year do not receive a written student report but
Parent –Teacher Interviews are currently underway for
these students and their families.
2009 Planning
As we approach the end of the 2008
school year, we need to reflect on the many
achievements of our great school during this year and
also to plan our school priorities, programs and
budget for 2009. To assist with these planning
processes, I greatly value the input of parents,
staff and students. A brief survey will be provided
to our families this week to enable them to provide
information and suggestions for the ongoing
development of our school. Your assistance in
returning this survey to your child’s class teacher
by next Friday 5 December would be greatly
appreciated. This information, and that provided by
staff and students, will be given consideration as
part of our 2009 planning processes as we continue
our focus on providing the very best educational
opportunities for our students.
How many students at Coomera in
2009?
If you know of any families who
intend enrolling their children at our school from
the beginning of next year, please advise them to
contact our school office (Ph: 5519 6333) so
enrolment information can be provided and interviews
organised.
Lost Property Reminder
There are considerable numbers of
items in lost property at the moment. While a number
of items have been collected recently, please remind
students of any items which they may have lost so
they can check the lost property again before the
holidays begin. It is very helpful indeed if items
are named as this makes it much easier to return
items if lost. The majority of clothing which has not
been claimed by the end of the year will be donated
to local charities.
Watch over our school during the
holidays
With the holidays fast approaching,
we need you to look out for after-hours crime in our
school. If you see anything suspicious, please
remember to call the School Watch number 13 17 88.
The School Watch Program is a partnership between
Education Queensland, the Queensland Police Service
and the State Government Protective Security Service.
It aims to reduce vandalism, theft and arson in
Queensland schools.
If you do see something suspicious,
please don’t attempt to intervene. Call the School
Watch number and let the local police or State
Government Protective Security Service deal with the
matter. Keep the number handy – 13 17 88 – and let’s
work together to help create a safer school
community!
If you have information related to
crime in the community, this can also be passed on
anonymously to Crime Stoppers by calling 1 800 333
000 or by reporting online at www.crimestoppers.com.au
