FROM THE EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

What an extraordinary group of young musicians we have at Chancellor State College. During Thursday’s Leadership Ceremony, we were privileged to hear from both the talented College Stage Band as well as from our aspiring future leaders, the new 2009 Ambassadors and Portfolio members and Ministers. One of the things that makes this day so unique is watching the younger members of our college have the opportunity to lead alongside the senior students. Congratulations to all.

Students and teachers are busy in the work of learning and teaching and have certainly settled into the routines of the new school year. Exciting and challenging new curriculum programs are being developed and many teachers have been involved in the ICT Masterclass sessions held at the University over the past few days. This type of learning for our teachers benefits and reaches so many students, not only our own, because those teachers themselves in turn teach other teachers in our region how to implement what they have learnt. In this way, we teachers are continuously engaged in life-long learning and so model this engagement for our students everyday.

Many senior students have commenced and are committed to ‘School-based’ Traineeships and Apprenticeships and are involved in ‘Headstart’ programs with the University of Sunshine Coast already, whilst others are pursuing their individual academic goals. It is wonderful to be able to offer young people a variety of future pathways so that they can be the best they can be. Thank you for working in partnership with the College and supporting your student in his or her chosen educational path.

We have been fortunate to secure several new teachers who bring with them a range of diverse and outstanding qualities that will benefit the College tremendously and over the next few editions of Schoolzine, you will be introduced to each of them.

Bevan Brennan
Executive Principal
