FROM THE EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL’S
DESK
NAMBOUR JUNIOR EISTEDDFOD
PERFORMANCES
I would like to congratulate the
Individual students, small ensembles and large
ensembles and bands from Chancellor State College for
their performances in the recent Nambour Eisteddfod.
There was an air of excitement amongst the students
as they prepared to give of their best on the stage.
There is a great deal of evidence that Chancellor
State College is becoming well known for their
performances at the eisteddfod and I am absolutely
confident that in the future there will be many more
awards being presented to Chancellor State College
students for their musical excellence. I recognize
the talents and efforts of Terri Giesen and Clare
Deady.
CHANCELLOR COLLEGE MAKES IT INTO
THE STATE SHOWCASE FINAL
On 29 October at the Convention
Centre in Brisbane Chancellor State College will
compete in the state finals for the Showcase for
Excellence Awards. The submission that won a regional
award has been selected as one of three entries that
will compete for the honour of being the State
Showcase Award winner in the category of Middle
Schooling. This is befitting recognition for all of
the teachers and administrators past and present who
have contributed to the achievement of students in
the Middle School at Chancellor State College.
SCIPP CONFERENCE A HUGE
SUCCESS
The International SCIPP conference
that was conducted at the Innovations Centre at the
University of the Sunshine Coast was a credit to the
organisers. I would like to congratulate sincerely Mr
David Thompson and Ms Marina Fitzpatrick from our
College who had a lead role to play in the
organisation of this conference. The objective of the
conference was to help teachers to instil excitement
into the teaching and learning of Science. Barry
Jones O.A. and Dr Karl Kruszelnicki were Keynote
speakers and entertained the audience with their
intelligence, wisdom and oratory skills.
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IN TOUCH
FOOTBALL AND SOCCER (FUTSAL) TO COMMENCE IN 2010
The Triennial School Review
revealed the desire on the part of students, parents
and teachers to offer Development Programs in Touch
Football and Soccer (Futsal) and the Chancellor State
College High Performance Plan contains some detail
relating to these programs. More detail regarding
these programs will be released in September.
DESIGN OF THE CHANCELLOR STATE
COLLEGE AWARD CEREMONY
The Executive team and other
Administrators in the College are formatting the
awards and performances that will combine to ensure
that the Chancellor State College Award Ceremony on
11 November at the Kings Champion Centre is a
befitting occasion to celebrate the achievements of
our students and teachers. More detail regarding this
event will be released prior to the September
vacation.
COLLEGE POLICY IN RELATION TO
IPODS AND OTHER PERSONAL ICT EQUIPMENT
It is the policy of this College
that IPODS should not be brought to College. If
students breach this policy and bring their IPOD to
College then it is imperative that students be aware
that the College will take absolutely no
responsibility for the safety of this equipment. This
same Policy applies to other privately owned
equipment that students bring to this College.
COLLEGE POLICY IN RELATION TO
FACIAL JEWELLERY
I remind students and parents that
the College has a strict policy in relation to facial
jewellery. Two small studs are permitted in each ear
for both boys and girls. No other facial jewellery is
to be worn at any time. If students breach this
policy and wear other jewellery to College they will
be instructed to remove it. Plastic studs are not
permitted in lieu of metal studs. I ask that parents
and students do not place themselves and members of
the College Administration in a position where there
is disagreement about this issue.
BOARD OF SENIOR MANAGEMENT
IMPLEMENTS HIGH PERFORMANCE PLAN
The Board of Senior Management at
Chancellor State College has commenced work on
ensuring that the one hundred and two objectives
contained in the High Performance Plan are achieved.
A review of the Terms of Reference for the Curriculum
Council has been completed and new Terms of Reference
have been implemented. The Terms of Reference for
other decision-making bodies in the College are being
reviewed also to ensure that important decisions are
made in an effective, transparent and timely
manner.
The support of the parents of this
College is always appreciated.
